1/350 German Navy Saxony-Class Frigate 3 in 1 Plastic Model

The Sachsen-class frigate is a class of ship currently in use by the German Navy. It is an air defense ship equipped with the NAAWS (NATO Anti-Air Warfare System) combat system, and is called a "mini-Aegis ship" due to its appearance and performance. In the latter half of the 1980s, the Navies of several NATO member countries started an international joint development plan for frigates, but the plan was difficult to implement; Britain, France and Italy withdrew from the plan, followed by Germany. The TFC (Trilateral Frigate Cooperation) project was then left with only three countries; Spain eventually left, leaving Germany and the Netherlands. The hull of the Sachsen-class ships are a long forecastle type, the chimney is V-shaped, and the basic design is an advanced version of the Brandenburg-class frigate; in consideration of stealth, a hull structure with a reduced radar cross-section (RCS) is used. The engine system is CODAG (Combined Diesel and Gas turbine); its maximum output is 51,600hp, the maximum speed is 29kt, and the cruising range is 4,000 nautical miles when cruising 18kt. From 2003 to 2005, three ships of this class -- the Saxony, the Hamburg and the Hessen -- were deployed to the frigate squadron.
